Thursday 23 July - Tour de France Stage 18: Annecy - Annecy
Annecy is the capital of the Haute-Savoie region and, along with its well preserved historic town centre, the lake is one of its most beautiful features on a sunny mid summer day. Annecy is bidding to host the 23rd Winter Olympics of 2018.

The weather started out OK but became cloudier towards the late afternoon and was quite dark and stormy looking for the last 10 or so riders. Fortunately the small amount of rain that fell wasn't enough to have any effect on the race result. These are a selection of photos taken about 5 km after the start of the time trial. Some of them could clearly benefit from some work in the "digital darkroom", especially those that were taken at when the weather was at its darkest, but for now they are just cropped and resized. The Gimp will be paying them a visit shortly....
